THE CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE (COE)

The Centers of Excellence (COE) are business modules designed to strengthen Corporate Supplier Diversity processes and to help MBEs compete in a global environment. Corporate participants have the opportunity to identify MBEs to participate in these modules and be an integral part of their growth.

The business modules—comprised of 8 to 10 Corporate Members, 16-20 MBEs and the TSMSDC Council President & CEO — is committed to enhancing the Supplier Diversity process by implementing NMSDC minority business development best practices. Each module is 18-24 months in duration. Click here for additional information.

GLOBAL-LINK INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM

Global-Link International Program works with non-governmental organizations in other countries to replicate the NMSDC model and link historically-excluded populations with corporate purchasing entities to create mutually-beneficial economic partnerships.

Established in 2001, the Global-Link initiative played a critical role in the creation of partner organizations in Australia, CanadaChinaSouth Africa and the United Kingdom.

These international partner organizations are a gateway for U.S.-based MBEs to meet international MBEs who may be potential partners to help them gain access to the global marketplace. Click here for additional information.

CORPORATE PLUS®

Corporate Plus® is an unprecedented membership program for NMSDC-certified minority businesses of the highest caliber. This program was created to address Corporate Member requests for assistance in locating minority suppliers with the capacity to fulfill national contracts.

The Corporate Plus® members have demonstrated their capacity to execute national contracts for major corporations. NMSDC national Corporate Members nominate MBEs for this designation, which elevates their profile among national Corporate Members and facilitates the MBEs broader participation throughout the NMSDC network.

The success of the Corporate Plus® program and member MBEs helps raise the level and perception of minority businesses to national prominence in corporate America. Click here for additional information.

GROWTH INITIATIVE

Growth Initiative allows NMSDC-certified MBEs with the potential for substantial growth to access equity capital from institutional investors while retaining their minority status through management and control of their business enterprise. To facilitate significant capital investment from non-minority partners, the Growth Initiative creates a new certification category – minority-controlled firms. For consideration, an MBE must submit a written request to the President of NMSDC, along with proof of minority business status. The steps are similar to the MBE Certification process. Those accepted and granted minority-controlled status are re-evaluated on a yearly basis.

“I knew there were corporations, suppliers and MBE’s that I’ve never had the opportunity to meet. I’ve met several people who have been very open and have shown interest in my business as I am interested in their business. My experience has been refreshing because they are such a welcoming group of people.”
