MBE Certification Application

ONLINE CERTIFICATION/RECERTIFICATION APPLICATION

NMSDC is implementing an innovative and straightforward portal for online certification and re-certification applications.  This portal will be one component of the new NMSDC Central Technology Platform.
You will be able to:

  • Upload your *documents
  • Make payments through a secure electronic payment gateway options, including electronic checks (paper checks are not acceptable for payment)
  • Receive notifications regarding your certification in the new NMSDC Central portal
  • Access the system from TSMSDC’s website – tsmsdc.net or from NMSDC’s website nmsdc.org

You will need to request a login ID and password to complete your application.

Application Process

Application Process for First Time Applicants

Step 1: Review the eligibility requirements for MBE Certification

  • The firm must be a for-profit business (Non-profit organizations are not eligible for certification)
  • The 51% qualifying applicant(s) must be an ethnic minority (African American, Hispanic, Asian Pacific (Islander, Asian Indian, Native American)
  • The 51% qualifying applicant must be a US Citizen
  • The highest executive position within the firm must be held by the ethnic minority owner(s) who holds a majority ownership in the firm. (Chairman, CEO, President, Managing Member, etc.)
  • The firm applying for certification may not be a holding company* (A holding company is a company created to buy and possess the shares of other companies, which it then controls.)
  • The firm applying for certification with TriState MSDC must be headquartered in our service territory (TSMSDC services Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia)

 

Step 2: Review the application and collect the required documents.

Step 3: The fees for certification are listed below and in the application itself.  Certification Fees are due with the application.

Step4: Once it has been verified that all required documents have been received, a certification  representative will contact you to schedule an onsite visit.

Step 5: Your completed application will be forwarded to the Certification Committee for review and the TSMDC Board of Directors for a final review and approval.

Step 6: Once approved, a certification approval letter is emailed to you. Please note that the  process can take between 30 – 90 days to complete

Step 7: The certification is good for one (1) year from the date of issue and requires you to  renew annually.

Application Process for Renewals

Certified MBEs are required to re-certify in order to maintain certified status and remain listed in both local and national minority business databases.  Your certification will expire approximately one year from the original date of certification or the last renewal.
