TriState MSDC certifies any for-profit business located in Tennesse, Kentucky and West Virginia. To qualify as minority-owned businesses, firms must be 51 percent or more ethnic minority-owned, operated and controlled by a U.S. citizen(s).
Minority status is given to individuals belonging to one or more of the following groups*:
- African American
- Hispanic / Latino American
- Native American
- Asian Indian American
- Asian Pacific American

There you will find the certification fee which is payable upon application submission. The certification process ranges from 40 to 60 days depending on when the application is submitted and completeness of supporting documentation.
Certification obtained through TriState MSDC is valid throughout the United States.
* NMSDC certifies ethnic minorities exclusively without regard to gender. Persons seeking certifications solely on Gender are not eligible for NMSDC certification on a basis of gender alone. NMSDC certification is Gender Neutral and only requires the applicant to be a member of one or more of the official ethnic groups identified above.
