TSMSDC Education Foundation

History of Giving

The Education Foundation was established in 1994 as a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) non-profit organization to enhance educational opportunities for at-risk students in the Metropolitan Nashville School District, who otherwise would be unable to pursue a college education.

Our mission is to mentor low income students with high potential. Support comes from contributions from a variety of sources – individuals, corporations, minority business enterprises (MBEs) and events sponsored by TSMSDC. The financial burden of a college education has increased dramatically and with the provision of tuition scholarships to high school students, we can help to offset the ever increasing educational expenses for students at colleges and universities.

The Foundation has awarded in excess of $1.8 million to over 325 students since its inception in 1994. Over the years, the donations from concerned corporations and individuals have helped in creating significant support through scholarships. Gifts from donors have allowed the Foundation to enrich educational opportunities for Students in the Metropolitan Nashville School District.

Scholarships create the financial support needed to pursue a college/university education, and to create a more secure financial future for the recipients to pursue their dreams. The real beneficiaries of your support are our precious resources – our youth.

UNIQUE NEEDS, UNIQUE SOLUTIONS

The Education Foundation fills a void unaddressed by other programs. Its unique structure includes education and training of providers and employers, as alliance partners. Their involvement and active participation ensures that scholarship recipients receive education, training, and development to prepare them for the opportunities provided by area employers.

SUPPORT NEEDED

Education is the foundation for success. The foundation of our scholarships is your generosity. Your donation will help those second tier academic performers who otherwise would not be able to continue their education beyond high school.

Make A Difference! Fulfill the dreams for our young people to excel. Show your support to the growth of minority businesses. If you and/or your organization would like to serve as an Alliance Partner for education, training or employment, please contact the Education Foundation at 615.726.0586.
